The heat treatment of the OEM intermediate clutch outer race is too hard for the hoop stresses the race encounters in high performance street/strip applications. This results in outer race failure when the hydraulic circuitry has been modified to reduce intermediate clutch slippage. A fully inspected OEM intermediate clutch outer race is treated to a proprietary stress relief process, resulting in a component suitable for high performance applications.
