This permits the adaptation of the GM 4L80E to small block, big block, and Gen 3 Hemi Chrysler engines; small block, big block and Modular/Coyote Ford engines; Buick, Cadillac, Oldsmobile and Pontiac engines; as well as update the case for Chevrolet applications. Includes precision machined and o-ringed oil pump body, aluminum adapter plate, and mounting hardware. Bellhousing sold separately and are from Reid Racing Super Hydra TH400 series. Requires 10.5" or smaller diameter torque converter.

This one of a kind part introduces a press fit between the direct drum and the sun gear shaft. By doing this the direct drum and sprag assembly is forced to run on the transmission center line. This keeps the sprag from angular overrunning in hi gear which can destroy the sprag. Other benefits are less harmonics in 1st and 3rd gears and reduced wear between the drum and center support. Fits all 1997 and up 4L80E center lube transmissions.

The one piece OEM 4L80E stamped steel apply/release spring retainer is an accident waiting to happen. The flimsy retainer eventually deforms and bows out, then contacts the rotating direct clutch housing, either failing the housing or the intermediate clutch plates. Either way it’s a loser. This kit includes the sturdy OEM TH400 stamped steel apply/return spring retainer and a new set of 12 high rate intermediate clutch apply/release springs to replace the failure prone one piece OEM assembly.

In its relaxed state, the OEM snap ring outside diameter is much greater than in its installed position, requiring increased deformation to permit assembly. This results in a ring that is highly stressed as installed. Each time the clutch applies, the ring must absorb the force. This compromises the structural integrity of the ring, often resulting in shattering. This high quality heat treated snap ring features an increased cross sectional area and will not fail under extreme loading conditions. A must on all 4L80E builds.
